Josh Fields (known online as JJProdigy) may be the most infamous online poker player ever, as he has been involved in several multi-accounting scandals that have received endless attention from the poker community. What gets lost in all the criticism is the fact that Josh is such an extremely successful online poker player. Published on 2007-12-24 12:36:03 This has turned into a bit of a hot topic over the past couple of days. For the uninitiated, Josh 'JJProdigy' Field was banned from almost all of the major sites in early 2006 after being found guilty of multi-accounting. Total life earnings: $371,210. Latest cash: $13,075 on 29-Aug-2015. Click here to see the details of Josh Field's 14 cashes.

Poker Stars decided to ban ‘JJProdigy’ who’s real name is Josh Field after they caught wind of what went on at Party Poker. PokerStars research found that JJProdigy was playing under multiple accounts in major tournaments on their site.

Not only has PokerStars banned this cheater from their software they have also have extended his ban so he may not play in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) since he is now turning legal age.

The reason why JJ Prodigy was under the microscope was because of the $500,000 Guaranteed tournament which took place back in early 2006 at Party Poker. The account name ‘ablackcar’ won first place and a prize of $140,000. There was nothing abnormal about this except it was discovered on Pocketfives.com that their was suspicion of ‘ablackcar’ was in fact being played by user name ‘JJProdigy’. I bet you see the problem now.

JJ Prodigy owns a reputation of being a very solid poker player and these types of poker players are under constant speculation and hand analyses on Internet forums. Its reported from pokerking.com, that within 20 minutes after the ablackcar won the tournament that these two accounts participated in this tournament.

Shortly after JJ Prodigy was confronted with the allegations. A laughable and pathetic attempt was made by JJProdigy, in saying that the account was his grandmothers account. Yes, we are being serious here. JJProdigy went on mention that he took over for his grandmother in the late stages of the tournament.

After hearing this poker forums were absolutely buzzing. Motivated forum posters started searching and digging up information about screen names ‘ablackcar’ and ‘JJProdigy’. Several of them found that these two screen names were playing in the same high stakes tournaments. Party Poker was made aware of the allegations and information and they handled this very quickly by freezing both accounts. Within a week, Party Poker banned both accounts and confiscated the $140,000 that ‘ablackcar’ won and another $40,000 from the account ‘JJProdigy’. The tournament money was redistributed and everyone in the $500,000 Party Poker Guaranteed Tournament was of course bumped up one spot.

The scandal doesn’t end here. JJ Prodigy attempted an apology to the poker world on 2+2. Below are significant parts of his post. This post was made on December 22nd 2007.

“It’s hard to pick out where to start. The past few years, I have been forced to go underground and stay mysterious. It’s not something I really chose, but it was something forced upon me. I was fourteen turning fifteen, and I was much too immature to handle the situation (ABlackCar incident, and the underage violations that followed). I am almost embarrassed reading my posts about the situation, but I realize that I was still very young at the time.”

“After all that happened, I was banned from PokerStars and PartyPoker, and all my accounts were closed for being underage. My immaturity again was working against me. I didn’t think what I was doing was wrong. After that, it was a downward spiral. I was a fugitive in the online poker world.”

“Transition to present time. I do believe I have matured and developed a sense of morals and personal ethics. I was always too scared to apologize to the community, mostly due to the fact I didn’t think what I was doing was wrong. I finally realize now that I was cheating completely. I neglected my fellow poker players and cheated a wonderful thing we have with online poker. I betrayed a community I cared so much about all for selfish reasons. It shames me to think about it. I did it for so long, and I never had the courage to quit and admit what I was doing was wrong.”

“So, I write this to officially apologize to the community. I apologize to the people that have been close to me and have been given a negative name due to my actions. I apologize to all the players I played with under unknown names and gave myself an unfair advantage. I give my word that I will never multi-account again, and I will not play online until I am 18. I apologize to the sites that I unfairly took advantage of. I don’t expect to be forgiven right away, but I hope I can earn the forgiveness of the community, the sites, and even my friends.”

About Josh Field “JJProdigy”

Josh Field Poker

Josh Field is now known for his cheating scandal and underage lies. He has lied to many poker sites claiming to have gone to college but was in fact only 14 at the time. Here is the latest news article on December 30, 2007 about JJprodigy getting banned from the PCA (Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure).

Josh started with a bankroll of $100 and proceeded to erect a six figure bankroll in under a year. Most players recognize him as screen name JJProdigy, his win of the Tournament Leader Board points at PokerStars, and also the multi-table cheating scandal at Party Poker.

Tournament Leader Board (TLB) Winner

Josh was victorious in the TLB (Tournament Leader Board) points at PokerStars in August 2005. This was a highly publicized event because of all the pros contending for the title. There were side bets amounting to $100,000 as to who would win the TLB that month. Josh was considered an underdog and not a threat to the title, but he proved to many that he was underrated. Josh aka JJProdigy beat out well known poker pro Brett Youngblood a member of “The Crew” and Gigabet, Darrel Dickson. Josh said the biggest accomplishment during the month of his win was proving all the doubters wrong. He later proved the doubters right when he was exposed as a cheater.

BetOnline.com is still accepting real money USA players.

Party Poker Cheating Discovered

Field

Josh was one of the first players to get caught for multi-table cheating which caused a dominos effect uncovering other famous online pros. The following event was highly publicized on all poker forums, ESPN, and Fox news. The story changed the way online poker safety was looked at.

Josh got busted for multi-table cheating at Party Poker in February 2006 during the big $500,000 Sunday Tournament which he went on to win. During the tournament Josh was playing under two screen names; JJprodigy and Ablackcar. He did so by manipulating a bug in Party Poker’s software which allowed you to open multiple accounts. The glitch is no longer accessible. Josh says the second account, Ablackcar, was actually his grandmothers.

During the tournament Josh busted out under screen name “JJprodigy” and went over to watch his grandmother play on her account where she was playing in the same tournament. Josh then took over for his grandmother and in fact ended up winning the entire tournament which earned him $140,000 in prize money. Earlier on in the tournament Josh posted in the chat box that he was indeed playing under more than one screen name. Posts flew up around the forums and someone contacted Party Poker where they then froze his account and confiscated his entire winnings. Party Poker also took another $40,000 found in Ablackcar’s account.

Final Note on Josh Field

For those that have ever competed and tried to win the TLB you know that not any player can win. It takes mental toughness and a great player to win. Josh Field may never fully bounce back after all the negative events that have surrounded him lately but he might be able to once again compete at a high level. Many may never forgive him for all his lies and “scams” he’s pulled.
