MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) announced Wednesday the launch of legalized sports betting at the MGM Grand Detroit through its BetMGM Sports Lounge.

This stylish 7,000 square feet space houses 40 tables and two high-limit areas, the most prominent of which is Bobby's Room - an exclusive two-table enclave named in honor of 1978 World Series of Poker Champion and MGM. In December 2019, Michigan passed legislation around a two-step timeline for legalizing sports betting within the state. Retail sports betting went live Wednesday, March 11, while online and mobile wagering (along with iGaming) are expected to come at a later date, but not before receipt of all of the necessary regulatory approvals.

This program allows players to earn points based on how much they wager. Players can earn points based on how much they spend at the MGM Grand Detroit’s other venues, like the hotel, restaurant, and attractions. Players can also earn tier credits that go towards the next tier level of the loyalty program. The rate is 1 tier credit for every 1 point earned.
