The probability of getting that specific 4 of a kind again are now (48 choose 3) / (52 choose 7) or 0.82. The probability of being dealt a pair in Texas Hold’em is 5.88%, or odds of 1: 16. There are 13 pairs in Hold’em (22 – AA) and for each there are 6 ways to be dealt. There are 6 different ways to form a specific pair and there are 13 different pairs. Meaning there are.
It's always nice to start with a pair in the hole (especially the high kind) because they can often win without any improvement whatsoever. By the same token, an opponent's hidden pair can also often sneak up and beat you.
